The most important factor to make sales is bring targeted traffic to your site. I’m sure It’ll convert better.
Google adwords can bring you targeted traffic but it seems you know that it will cost you a lot and SEO techniques or more backlinks is getting harder day by day. Search engines always change their algorithm and you should follow their rule to get high search result.
Well, there are also other ways to get traffic. You can try social bookmarking, article writing, comment in related blog and put your link there, forum ,yahoo answer or others. The methods is free, but most of them is time consuming and takes a long time to see a great result.

Your site isn’t optimized at all really – carry out some keyword research, then be sure to put them in your titles, description and even your keyword meta tags… on all your main pages.
But the site really needs some polishing in terms of usability too.
