I am looking into using Blogspot, and possibly Wordpress, to gain some tangible writing/editing experience. I am hoping to get a job editing for a company online one day, and they often ask for links to see your work. Well, my school advisor said I should look into using Google Adsense to make a bit of money while I’m at it, and drive more traffic to my blogs. 1. Is there a difference between AdSense and AdWords?

2. Do I need a PayPal account, even though I thought I read that the checks are mailed directly to me?

3. Can I have more than one blog on an existing account, or do I need separate accounts for each, or is that even allowed? I have two blogs that I think are both relevant and useful to readers (and good for if I apply for editing in a journalistic field or in a research field), and one that would be great for editors looking for those with fiction experience. Would I be able to use all three, or would I only be allowed one?

Of course, editing also involves writing, so this is why companies want to see if you have what it takes to edit in a professional manner…and this will also help me gain exposure in my ultimate career goal, which is writing. I’m just not really sure how to go about this in an online manner. I blog, yes…but I’ve never thought of marketing my online writing until now. Can someone help? I know AdSense won’t make me rich, but I also know it’s not a scam…I am just a bit confused as to how the whole thing works.

Our company has a good customer base built up since 2002 and currently is undergoing a rebrand from one website domain which is No.2 on Google Page 1 (using organic search keywords ‘personalised cards) www.remind4u.com

I am undergoing SEO work but I need to know more about how soon it will take Google to recognise the new website and domain www.funkypigeon.com and the 301 redirect traffic and be on page one as remind4u.com is at present.

The new website has been SEO optimised by myself in advance, HTML tags, keywords, ALT tags, Google Analytics is set up and Google Webmaster code installed, some directories and backlinks already in place, we have a blog, facebook page, twitter account, bebo and myspace, everything is set for the launch on Friday 9th October.

So, when the day comes for the 301 redirect to be applied, the old site will slowly lose rank, but how soon (hours / days / weeks?) will the new website build up Google’s trust and ranking?

For some reason after my website went down for around 5 hours due to the problems with the network at my hosting provider, it disappeared from Google organic search results. I was listed on the 4th page of Google.com results for “cheapest airfare” keyword and had lots of sales coming from that. Now I have no idea what to do to get my site back into Google. My website is a legal reputable business. I have never broken any rules and I can’t really blame hosting because networks do go down and servers do brake once in the while. My hosting provider is also a good reputable business.

Does anybody know how Google.com penalizes for site being down and how to remove that penalty?

I have built around 400 backlinks to my site. Some of them are with good PageRank but only as little as about 10 are displayed in google’s search. Does google calculate the PageRank based only on the number of links displayed?.

I have a site that’s been around for about 3 months. I was receiving a good volume of traffic from Google to my site via organic search through a lot of good content. Today I noticed when searching for the right keywords, my website doesn’t show up anymore.

•Link to yourself. If you have more than one website, create cross links to all your sites. For this to work properly, you have to make certain each site has a different I.P. address.

If you keep linking, your little site could start beating out sites that are larger and have higher traffic volume that you do (at least for now!). The secret to good SEO is to keep working. If you stop working on SEO, you’ll notice your site starting to slip from front and center.
