im going to NYC for the summer, and i will be using the subway a lot. i really don’t like asking for directions so instead im trying to plan ahead by thinking of all the places i want to go, and writing down the subway ‘letters’ or ’stops’ [don't know the proper term]. but, i am aware sites such as map quest can be retarded, so im not sure if google maps in reliable.
any advice or tips?

if you put an address in google maps you can get a street view and it is as if you are walking down your street it is very ridiculous In earlier years they had aerial views but this is too close for comfort…any thoughts?
I was looking around on Google Maps for the first time and figured out that I could get a view of the streets, too! When I was clicking around, I was wondering if it was possible to check when these photos had been taken. I can make a really rough guess according to construction, etc, but I was wondering if there were exact dates, or at least more specific time periods, available.
I’m looking for a service that provides satellite maps of non-US locations.
