How does google make money by providing Satellite and street view maps. They must cost a lot to produce but I don’t see the profit in it, their are no ads on the maps or anything.

if you put an address in google maps you can get a street view and it is as if you are walking down your street it is very ridiculous In earlier years they had aerial views but this is too close for comfort…any thoughts?

The title is pretty self explanatory.
Google maps has a street view that flows, and is much more convenient to use than the one in google earth, the one in google earth floods my screen with camera icons, and feels really dodgy when I try to move around.
Am I missing an option here? Or is it really like that.. And if so, why?

I went on Google Maps yesterday and there was a button I could click when you went down to street view that made things 3D if you had 3D glasses, but when I went back on today the button to go 3D was missing. How do I get it back?

Google Maps has a popular tool called "Street View". Basically you take an icon that is a golden man and put him on whatever street you want to view. It shows a 360 degree view of the area. Well you can view people’s home as well and I was thinking this could evade privacy.

Google maps now has a street view format to its maps, which makes it possible for anyone to SEE what your house looks like from the street, that’s on top of them already showing you what is exposed to the open air on your driveway and yard, etc. Is there some sort of law that would prohibit google from showing what a private residence looks like?

I’m looking at the street view for an address I typed in on google maps, and it just baffles me to think that somebody went up and down the streets all around the US taking pictures every 25 ft. If it were just satellites taking the pictures, how did they get so detailed at the angle they are shown (like you are standing on the street looking) Anyone know the answer?

Thanks Molly, your question prompted me to ask this! lol That really bugs me now. I looked up mine & mine appears to be old too, but I’m wondering just how often they are updated because that really is creepy!
